德 17:1–15	Sir 17:1–15
上主用塵土造人，	The Lord created man from the earth
又使人歸於塵土。	and let him return to earth.
祂賜給人有限的歲月，	He settled a fixed time for them and a set number of days,
但授予他們統治大地萬物的權柄。	giving them power over everything on earth.
祂賜給他們的能力，就像祂自己的能力，	He endowed them with a strength like his own,
又按祂自己的肖像創造他們。	making them in his own image.
祂使一切生物都懼怕他們，	He put the fear of them in all living things,
又將統治鳥獸的權力賜給他們。	thus they had mastery over the animals and birds.
祂賜給他們智慧，	He endowed them with knowledge;
還有唇舌、眼目、雙耳	he gave them tongue and eyes, ears
和會思考的頭腦。	and a mind to think with.
祂又將知識和悟性注入他們，	He filled them with wisdom and knowledge;
將善惡教給他們。	he taught them good and evil.
祂將祂的慧眼放在他們心中，	He put his own eye in their hearts
好將祂偉大的造化之工顯示給他們。	so they would understand the greatness of his works.
他們必要讚美祂的聖名，	They will praise his holy Name
並傳述祂壯麗的工程。	and relate the magnificence of his creation.
祂賜給他們智慧，	He gave them revealed knowledge as well
又賜給他們生命的法律作產業。	and handed over to them the Law of life.
祂與他們訂立了永久的盟約，	He established an everlasting covenant with them
並讓他們明白祂的正義。	and let them know his judgments.
他們親眼見到祂榮耀的威嚴，	Human eyes saw the splendor of the Glory of God;
親耳聽到祂莊嚴的聲音。	their ears heard the grandeur of his voice.
祂對他們說：	He said to them,
「要戒避一切不義！」	“Keep yourselves from all gave commands regarding his wrong-doing,”
並吩咐他們每人：以祂的誡命對待鄰人。	and to each of them he neighbor.
他們的道路時常出現在祂面前，	Their conduct is always before the Lord;
絲毫隠瞞不了他的眼目。	they cannot escape his sight.

谷 10:13–16	Mk 10:13–16
那時，人們帶著孩子們來見耶穌，	People were bringing their little children to him
請祂摸摸孩子	to have him touch them,
門徒們卻斥責他們。	and the disciples rebuked them for this.
但耶穌看見了就生氣，對門徒們說：	When Jesus noticed it,he was very angry and said,
「讓孩子們到我這裡來，	“Let the children come to me
不要阻止他們，	and don’t stop them,
因為天主的國屬於這樣的人！	for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
我實在告訴你們：	Truly, I say to you,
誰若不像孩子一樣接受天主的國，	whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child
決不能進去。」	will not enter it.”
然後，祂抱起孩子們，	Then he took the children in his arms
給他們覆手祝福。	and laying his hands on them, blessed them.

耶穌雖然没有自己的子女，但祂心裡的愛和一切豐盛是開放給所有人的。祂給我們啟示了生命一開始就充滿希望、使人驚訝的奧妙，祂也在每個孩子身上發現天父的肖像。耶穌要求我們常懷希望，祂當然不會忘記孩子也是我們希望的所在。

我們必須像孩子一樣才能進入天主的國，那就是天主的臨在，天主的真相和我們內的天主肖像完全展露的境界。我們必須忘掉自高自大的智慧，放下以往辛酸的經驗，才能以驚訝和簡樸的心接受天主的恩賜。

Children in the kingdom One of the most memorable moments of the visit of Pope Francis to the Philippines was his time with families at the MOA SMX.

There is that beautiful picture of the smiling Pope Francis surrounded by children! Oh how children attract the attention of the Holy Father! remember how the escorts of the Holy Father would pick out a parent with small children and bring them to the Holy Father! Jesus in the Gospel of today was himself surrounded by little children.

And when the disciples tried to prevent the children from drawing near to him, Jesus rebuked them! Jesus loves little children! Our Lord and the Holy Father has shown us the importance of children in our society.

It is so sad when we society begin to take children for granted. It is so sad when children are abused by adults. We must learn once again to value children as Jesus values every child. Like Pope Francis, we must pay special attention to our children today. Do bless the children you meet today!
